Using an External Modem with your LINK AVS-816 This document outlines the basic steps required to connect and
control an AVS-816 with an external modem. These instructions assume that the modem is
compatible with the Hayes "AT" command set. First of all, it will be necessary to edit the modem's configuration
or "profile". This is done using a personal computer (PC) running a simple
terminal program such as Procomm, Comit, or Windows(tm) Terminal. To read your modem's

commands: ATS0=1 Select Auto-answer Next, save these modifications in the modem's non-volatile memory by
issuing the command: AT&W0 Now, you are ready to disconnect the modem from the computer and
connect it to the AVS-816. You will notice that both the AVS-816 and your external modem
have female subminiature D connectors. Therefore, a special cable or adapter will
be necessary with the following pin configuration:
